Singapore is a place that I can’t get enough of. The country is very small but it’s packed with many attractions thanks to its unique blend of cultures, cuisines, and architecture. If you find yourself with just a day to explore or even a long layover, don’t worry! This itinerary will help you see the best of this amazing city even if you only have 24 hours in Singapore.
Getting to Singapore
When you land in Singapore, you’ll be able to experience the world renowned Singapore Changi Airport. This airport is so big you can literally spend HOURS exploring and shopping in there. This 10-story airport has over 300 shops, restaurants, and attractions.
If you are here on a layover, you might consider spending your entire time at the airport. Otherwise, you can explore the rest of Singapore which is even more incredible.
Depending on your situation, remember to take into account the time spent going through customs, and transport to and from the airport.

Getting Around in Singapore
Transportation in Singapore is very efficient!
When I went, I opted to skip purchasing cell phone service. During my 4 days there, I was still able to navigate and travel throughout the country- even without internet connection! (I just kept directions in my notes and followed them throughout the day.) This proves the reliability of the public transportation there.
The best way out of the airport into the city center would be to use the MRT. To get downtown, you must take the train from Changi Airport MRT Station to Expo MRT Station (CG1/DT35), then transfer to the Downtown Line towards Bukit Panjang MRT Station (BP6/DT1).

24 Hours in Singapore
8:00 AM – Breakfast at a Hawker Centre
Singapore can be quite expensive but thankfully their hawker centers are not! You can even find the worlds cheapest Michelin Star restaurant here.
If you decide to follow this itinerary, I recommend going to Maxwell Food Centre, as it is close by your next stop.
What is a Hawker Center?
Hawker Centers are food courts with many, many, stalls that serve a variety of affordable food. There are many in Singapore and are deeply embedded in the Singaporean culture and lifestyle.
Make sure you have cash on hand as that is the only form of payment at certain stalls!
What to Get:
At the Hawker Centers you will definitely have the opportunity to try some Singaporean classics like Hainanese Chicken Rice or Fish Head Curry. But in the early morning, I suggest starting your day with a traditional Singaporean breakfast. Try Kaya Toast (toast spread with kaya jam and butter) paired with soft-boiled eggs and a cup of kopi (local coffee).
